Almost at -10. Maybe next week? I know it didn't help that I went out to dinner the night before I weighed in, but I'm hopeful for next week.
I looked up my stats. I started WW on 10/25/06, which makes this my 15th week on the program. I've made a personal commitment to stay with WW for at least one year, and thus far I've completed a little more than one-quarter of a year. I'm very proud.
Inspired by the Bento group, I decided to bring a packed lunch to work yesterday. It was certainly not a Bento, since the preparation was neither cute nor beautiful, but it was a baby step towards Bento. I manged to find a partitioned tupperware in my Mother's vast cupboard of tupperware products from the last two decades and away I went. I read an article that reference Maine Lobster & Seafood Rolls and ever since then have been craving on, so I put together some canned crab meat & light mayo along with lettuce in a pita and had a delicious sandwich (5 points on WW), as well as carrots (0 points), peanut butter (4 points), a small apple (1 point), and a cheese stick (2 points). A very filling and fairly healthy lunch that wasn't too heavy.
Today I've packed: shrimp and veggie teriyaki stir-fry (4 points), pita (1 point) + hummus (4) + lettuce (0), carrots (0), and a cheese stick (2). An 11 point lunch that has tons of protein and is filling, plus I've got an apple to snack on during my train ride home.
I absolutely love the Pump in NYC (they only use egg whites and avoid salt, white potatoes, and white flour, etc), so I ordered their cookbook to get ideas on how to make their meals at home as well as nutritional info. In the back is a sample two week menu, which I've adapted to a routine that seems to be working well:
- 7:15 Piece of fruit when you wake up (typically on the train for me)
- 9am - 10am Breakfast - high protein & high fiber;
- 12n - 1ish: Lunch, again high protein & high fiber
- 5:30 Snack (typically fruit or pretzels on the train ride home)
- 7:30 - 8:30 Dinner
I hate eating dinner so late, especially since I try to be in bed by 10 or 11 at the latest, but by the time I drive home from the train station and make something, it's usually 7:30 or later.
And that's probably more information than anyone needed to know about my eating habits. ;)
I thought a mini-celebration was in order after attending my weight watchers meeting this afternoon. Stats are below.

I'm so very close to losing the first 10 lbs! And, then I'll be about halfway to losing my first 10%. Must remind myself that progress, no matter how slow, is fabulous.
I feel great.

i've been waiting to post my weigh-ins until i had a good week. i know it's cheating, but i wanted to be able to look at something positive along with the negative.
- Start Weight: 219.2

I'm on my way to losing my first goal: 10% of my start weight or 21.9 lbs.
products i love & adore:
1. ProActiv. As promised on the infomercial, I did see results after two weeks. I've found that I can't use the product twice a day without experiencing some seriously dry skin, but using it once a day seems to be working just fine. Me and my now clearer face are perfectly content with the new regime.
2. Spanx Leggings/ Hosiery. Spanx is sold at Lane Bryant (and I'm sure other stores). I've found that as a slightly bigger girl, this particular brand of hosiery is comfortable, probably because it fits properly. I'm in love with my leggings. I guess I'm reliving the 80s, and that's okay by me.
3. Weight Watchers. Speaking of being a bigger girl, I've found that WW works time and again. I'm one of those people who has problems following through with things, so I've been in and out of WW a number of times, but when I'm there it's fabulous. The meetings are incredibly helpful, and the program is easy. All it takes is a little willpower, and I'm harnessing mine.
i think that is all for now.
i just signed up for the weight watchers monthly pass. tonight is my first meeting and weigh-in. i'm terrified and exhilirated. i know the program, and i love weight watchers because i've had success in the past. but facing my fears and seeing the number on the scale is difficult. i've avoided this moment for weeks, but now is the time (now is the hour...). i guess i'm as ready as i'm going to get. here begins the journey.
